Republican Party leaders are trying to make opposition to President Obama’s Iran nuclear deal a Republican loyalty test. Every Republican presidential candidate has attacked it, including Rand Paul.
But Reps. Walter Jones (NC-03), Tom McClintock (CA-04), Rich Nugent (FL-11), Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01), Richard Hanna (NY-22), Pat Tiberi (OH-12), Tom Cole (OK-04), Glenn Thompson (PA-05), Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08), Charlie Dent (PA-15), Jimmy Duncan (TN-02), and Sean Duffy (WI-07) might defy Republican leaders and support the deal. In July 2013, these representatives signed a bipartisan letter urging the Administration to engage with Iran following the election of President Rouhani. That was also against the Republican line at the time.
There’s tremendous pressure on Republicans in Congress now from AIPAC and the right-wing to oppose the deal. These Representatives needs to hear from you now. Call your Representative now at (202) 224-3121. When you reach a staffer, you can say something like:
“In July 2013, Representative _____ encouraged the Administration to pursue diplomacy with Iran. I urge Representative _____ to oppose efforts now in Congress to scuttle the international agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.”
When you’ve made your call, you can report it below.
And if you haven’t signed our joint petition with Win Without War and CREDO in support of the deal, you can do that here:
